Athabasca Catering Limited Partnership employs a workforce of approximately 350, of which 75% have either Athabasca Basin or RSN status.
The catering company currently provides catering, housekeeping and janitorial services at five Northern Uranium Mines as well as a Northern Diamond Mine.
The company has a 20 year history rich in Northern heritage. They cater to camps of 50 to 500 men. The client generally supplies the site (complete with kitchen, dorms and storage areas) and ACLP supplies the groceries, dry goods and the labour based on a fixed rate for each person in camp for the day.
Athabasca Catering is owned and managed by Kitsaki Management Limited Partnership which is partnered with five Northern Bands. This partnership allows the residents from these communities to have the first opportunity to gain employment at the mine sites as preference is given to those with Basin Status.
As an ongoing commitment to training ACLP has teamed up with Northlands College and the Northern Apprenticeship Committee to offer an on the job Apprenticeship training program combined with theoretical training at site. There are currently eight Red Seal Journeyman Chefs working at the sites with the possibility of seven more after the current Apprenticeship Training is completed. |
